Suspect Alibi to open Splendour Main Stage

Indie rockers SUSPECT ALIBI will have the huge honour of opening this years Splendour Festival after emerging victorious from a competitive and intense Future Sound of Nottingham competition at Rock City this past weekend.

In front of a crowd of over 700 all six acts gave storming performances as they did their best to earn a slot at Splendour, which takes place at Wollaton Park on Saturday 18 July, however at the end of the vote – which is split 50/50 between audience and judge vote – it was Suspect Alibi who edged out runner up ELLIE KEEGAN to be crowned 2015 Future Sound of Nottingham champions – with JOSH WHEATLEY finishing third. The other acts in the competition were THE CHASE, AS DECEMBER FALLS and CHESHIRE & THE CAT.

Suspect Alibi will now follow in the footsteps of the likes of THE MONEY, THE GORGEOUS CHANS and last years winner JOY MUMFORD in opening the Splendour Festival this summer.

The band join a line up which, as ever, has a strong Nottingham feel to it. Joining the band on the main stage will be AMBER RUN, fresh from a huge sell-out Rescue Rooms show earlier this year.

On the Confetti Stage there will be a quartet of fantastic Nottingham bands for you to enjoy. The fantastic FEROCIOUS DOG who’s latest single, ‘Ruby Bridges’, is currently topping the Amazon folk charts. Indie rockers THE SWIINES will also be performing along with KETO, who return having opened the stage last year, and the wonderful GEORGIE.

As ever the Courtyard Stage is packed with Nottingham talent, including last year’s Future Sound of Nottingham winner JOY MUMFORD. Also playing the Courtyard Stage, which is again being run by Acoustic Rooms, are EYRE LLEW, CEDRIC PETERS, MOLLY & JACK, RJMARKS, DAUDI MATSIKO and HHYMN.

The Nottingham acts join a line up that includes ska legends THE SPECIALS and 80’s icons BANANARAMA as headliners, plus the likes of JAMES, LAWSON and TO KILL A KING.

Splendour Festival takes place at Wollaton Park on Saturday 18 July 2015, for more information and tickets check out the official Splendour website
