NottinghamLIVE Radio Show: Preview – 9 October 2013

After a great session by last minute booking Nick Aslam – check him out – to kick off October, we return next week with a live session from one of the hottest talents on the Nottingham music scene.

SAM JONES is a young singer-songwriter from Mansfield who has been performing across the city – though mainly towards the North of it – for over a year, however after making a late entry into this year’s Future Sound of Nottingham competition he shot to the attention of everybody.

Storming into the final Sam was eventually runner up to former NottinghamLIVE Radio Show guests The Gorgeous Chans, though he was named Judges Choice on the night – with one judge, the amazing Harleighblu singing his praises when we interviewed her at Splendour.

Talking of Splendour, Sam’s performance at the FSN final earned him the chance to open the Courtyard Stage at Nottingham’s biggest festival and he didn’t disappoint. We managed to catch up with him afterwards – you can hear what he had to say here.

We’ve been trying to get Sam in for some time so we’re extremely excited to have him on the show, make sure you tune in to hear a session from a future Nottingham superstar.

As well as a live performance from Sam we have Special Guest Host Sarah Evans joining us in the studio. Sarah will be following the theme set by regular guest host Mike Atkinson, and will be picking out her favourite Nottingham tracks. Well versed in radio Sarah has previously worked on student radio and local station Erewash Sound and currently interns for BBC Radio 2 host Simon Mayo.

We’ll also have the usual regular features, and possibly some new ones, including Looking Ahead in association with NottinghamLIVE.co.uk presented by our newest team member Cassia. As well as gig reviews and more.

So make sure you tune in to the NottinghamLIVE Radio Show, Wednesdays, 7-10pm
