NottinghamLIVE Radio Show: Preview – 18 September 2013

Consider the “hype”, “buzz”, “excitement”, or whatever you call it, around these parts at the moment you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Nottingham music scene has only existed for 2 years, well you’d be wrong the Nottingham scene has been full of great bands for years, some have long since left us – though many of their members are still around in ventures new, however some are still around, and still kicking out great music.

One such band are The Smears, the pioneers of Nottingham punk, this trio are, amazingly, about to celebrate their TENTH anniversary, which, considering I went to school with one of them, makes me feel incredibly old.

As they gear up for what will surely be a HUGE birthday party at the Jamcafe next weekend we’re pleased to say that the band will be joining us in the studio this week for a live session, as we’ve been after them since we started – we had them in once but only for a chat, during which they informed us of the unappealing smells of porn star Ron Jeremy – so we’re rather excited about finally getting them in to perform for us.

We’ll also be chatting to them about their upcoming gig, not to mention their ten years performing and how Nottingham has changed over that time – plus of course the all important question of which cartoon character they’d most like to have sex with?

Don’t forget you can send in your questions for the band by tweeting them to @nottinghamlive with the hashtag #AskSmears.

With all that plus great Nottingham music you’d be mad to miss this weeks show – but then you’d be mad to miss it any week – so make sure you’re tuned in, Wednesday, 7-10pm only on Trent Sound
