Fabulous DC MC Oddisee and his band visit from the US and invite you to Root Down at Peggy’s Skylight on George Street in Hockley from 7pm on Friday May 3, DJ Daddio plays after until late – doors 7pm, entry is £20 standing (booking in advance is recommended).
Treat yourself to afternoon tea (accompanied by Paul Deats’ grand piano between 2-5pm) on Saturday 4 May back at Peggy’s, in the evening saxophonist Tori Freestone leads her band playing compositions with Brazilian flavours and entry is £10 from 7pm. Same day, PRS AKA Si Potts on drums, Steve Rodda on guitar and Mat Short on bass perform from 3-5pm at Stray’s Coffee in Newark.
Peggy’s Sunday Mezinee concert on 5 May stars Tommaso Starace on sax with Wendy Kirkland on the grand piano, Pat Sprakes on bass and Clive Loveday on drums; doors open at 12 midday and their show runs from 1-3pm, entry is £8. Trumpet legend Nathan Bray plays with drummer Andrew Wood’s trio at the Lion in Basford from 1.30-3.30pm.
At The Bell Inn on Angel Row, Green King (under pressure from fans) have given their Monday night jazz a stay of execution for this month – therefore saxophonist Ben Martin’s band perform as usual on Monday May 6 from 8.30-10.30pm (keep up the pressure!)
On Wednesday May 8 the ever popular Tina May visits to sing with Andrew Wood’s Trio at Peggy’s from 7pm, entry is £10.
Trio Con Alma (Paul Deats on keys, Simon Paterson on double bass and Simon Bohill on drums perform a Latin repertoire for Jazz Discovery Thursday at Peggy’s on May 6; entry is £5 and the doors open at 7pm.

Where no entry fee is mentioned please assume your ample purchases from the venue will support the live music.
