Looking Ahead: Gigs of the week – 17 – 23 November 2014

Welcome back, we hope you had a great time at whatever gigs you got along to last week and are ready for more, once again we’ve picked out some of the highlights of this week in Nottingham music that may well tickle your fancy.

Bourbon & Blues – The Orange Tree – Wednesday 19 November

I’m Not From London and The Orange Tree team up to bring you a night celebrating good bourbon, good blues and good ol’ rock n roll this Wednesday. Head on along and check out some great music as well as some great bourbon cocktails.

The wonderfully named HORSE DRAYCOTT kick things off before a set from one of our favourite Nottingham performers, the ace SAM JONES. Rounding things off will be the one and only LUNADOGS who you may well have seen give a storming set on the NottinghamLIVE stage at the Hockley Hustle.

Don’t forget Happy Hour starts at 8pm and that means £1 off all cocktails, £2.50 bottles of Sol and £2.50 four house wines and house spirits and mixers.

Plus it be free entry.

Chaos at The Corner – The Corner – Saturday 22 November

The Corner spends its days as home to the likes of I’m Not From London, among others, however the promoter extraordinaires are taking it over this Saturday night for a night of musical chaos that is set to be well worth checking out.

Derby band COLD WATER SOULS start things off ahead of alt-trio and Future Sound of Nottingham finalists CROSA ROSA.

JC DECEAUX are described as a space grunge prog garage rock band, we’re not entirely sure what that means but considering they’re fronted by Rafe Dunn of Pilgrim Fathers and also feature Michael Freerick and Pete Dale from Amusement Parks on Fire we are sure that they’re going to be well worth checking out.

Wrapping things up will be the relatively new, heavy three piece MANNEQUIN.

Door prices are staggered to encourage you to check out as much of the music as possible so it’s £3 before 9, £4 before 10 and a fiver afterwards.

After their huge London debut this month the Sounddhism team are back at their home, Nottingham’s The Bodega, this Saturday for a night of fantastic music.

Japanese band ANCHORSONG are the main event this week, however they’ll be joined by two fantastic Nottingham acts in the shape of duo SHELTER POINT and the London based but Notts born KJ PALMER.

Plus you can expect the usual resident DJs over two floors.

Things get started at 10pm and tickets are a fiver.

So there you have our picks for this week, though we’re sure it’s just a snap shot of what you can catch over the next seven days. Whatever you decide to check out we hope you enjoy it and we’ll be back next week.
