Belvoir ‘Best for all Ages’ in The Times review of Britain’s Adventure Playgrounds

With Easter just around the corner and anxious parents searching for ways to fill their children’s two weeks off school, The Times newspaper has taken a look across the country and chosen Belvoir Castle’s brand new Adventure Playground as the ‘Best for all Ages’.

Spanning four acres, the playground is inspired by the iconic architecture of the Belvoir Estate and its past and present explorers. Featuring a giant timber fortress, along with a ship and towers and set within the magical woodland, the playground has something for all ages to explore and tire out little legs.

Perfect for an open air adventure, children can wage battle in the fortress, race through tunnels to a secret climbing wall and explore the wooden replica of HMS Resolution. Peering through portholes and scrambling up climbing nets they can escape to their next adventure via a zip wire that snakes through the trees.

A new Friends of Belvoir Castle Gardens and Playground pass has also been introduced in time for Easter to offer affordable options for unlimited visits to the garden and playground throughout the year. The annual pass is priced at £12.50 Child; £25 Adult; £50 Family with 1 Adult and up to 3 children; £75 Family 2 adults and up to 3 children. Other benefits include 10 percent off Belvoir Estate Stays; free parking for one vehicle in the main car park and 10 percent off purchases at Vale View cafe.

Lady Alice Manners: “The whole ethos of this playground is inclusivity! Everything is built so that parents and grandparents can join their children in play. We have worked around the natural topography of the woodland to create a non-invasive structure which we hope will feed everyone’s imaginations and I hope that many happy memories are made for families on this wonderful adventure playground.”

Nearby, the estate’s artisan shopping village The Engine Yard is open every day, with free parking available for stays of up to 4 hours. The Fuel Tank Kitchen has a new children’s menu offering popular staples such as scampi and chips, sausage and mash as well as smoothies, milkshakes and babyccinos.
