Review: Noel Fitzpatrick – Welcome to my World – Nottingham Motorpoint Arena

If ever Professor Noel Fitzpatrick gives up as a vet, he’s definitely got a career as a motivational speaker.

Following the huge success of his Channel 4 show,  The Supervet, brought his first ever live stage show Welcome to My World to Nottingham Motorpoint Arena, and with it a huge dose of feel good factor.

Go along expecting to see the Irish Supervet operate on puppies then you’ll be disappointed.  The performance is less about animals, more about Fitzpatrick, but thats no bad thing.

Noel is a true thought leader in his field being at the forefront of the revolution in bionic and regenerative medicine, announcing he’d learnt just today that practices he has revolutionised for animals will now also be used for humans.

An extraordinary and emotive storyteller, Noel takes us on a journey from his childhood dreams of becoming a vet to international veterinary training and practice, driven by his imaginary super hero vet and… Rocky.

Working on his philosophy that everything is impossible until you make it happen, we see on the big screens how he draws inspiration for his bionic inventions from everyday life. Christmas trees to lollipop ladies, believe it or not, they have all inspired his revolutionary developments in orthopaedic surgery.

Where better to be on a Saturday night, he tells us, than in an arena of people who love animals, because inevitably they are nice people. I can’t argue, in unison we ‘awww’ every time a dog appears on screen and applaud wildly when, footage of an injured dog is followed by footage of the same animal running happily in a meadow after one of his ground-breaking operations.

Welcome to My World is a unique live experience. Entertaining and fascinating, you’ll be in tears one minute and laughing the next.  We need more Noel Fitzpatricks in the world – it would undoubtedly be a better place if there were, and thanks to his belief that anything is possible it might just inspire you to change the way you think longterm.

Short-term, I guarentee you’ll go home and give your dog the biggest, sloppiest kiss and hug of it’s life.
