Three years after The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was released comes The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. With the same director, screenwriter and cast, you make think that it will be like the majority of sequels just a poor version of the first, however with this it may be more of a “if it aint broke don’t fix it” case.
The first was a heart warming philosophical journey that made you want to visit India instantly (as planning ahead is just not done, you don’t even buy green bananas). It was an emotional rollercoaster that was set at a velocity suitable for OAP’s. With Dev Patel managing to stand his ground and stand out amongst a cast of Oscar winning old favourites. It was a cross between The Darjeeling Limited and Last of the Summer Wine. If you have been living under a rock and haven’t already seen it then make sure you watch the first before seeing the second; expect laughter and tears, surprises and revelations.
