Preview: Gloworm Festival – 14-15 August 2021

The covid-19 pandemic may have robbed the Gloworm Festival of celebrating its fifth birthday in 2020 but the family festival is back and planning its biggest party yet when it hits Thoresby Park this weekend.

After a eighteen months of lockdowns, homeschooling, cancelled events and no holiday’s families will certainly be welcoming a chance for a weekend of fun and that’s just what Gloworm offers with a huge amount happening across the weekend. As ever the festival is split into a series of zones including a Tiny Tots zone featuring interactive singing and dancing from Jo Jingles, the PLAYMOBIL Play Days area where families can check out new toys and games and meet lifesize PLAYMOBIL characters.

The Dino Zone is bound to be extremely popular, I mean who doesn’t love dinosaurs, and will feature a Jurassic Jungle, Dino Babies and a number or workshops, while Shipwreck Cove will feature the Gloworm Sands beach and MERMAIDS.

CBEEBIES will be on hand with Baby and Toddler Clubs presenter Nigel Clarke and meet and greets with the likes of Hey Dugee!, Go Jetters and Bing. Meanwhile White Post Farm will once again be hosting the Great Outdoors zone where you can meet bunnies, goats, chickens, ducks, snakes and more.

Then there’s the main stage where there will be a host of entertainment to enjoy from BBC kids fave’s Andy and the Oddsocks to the ace local family band Johnny and the Raindrops, while for the parents there is a trip down memory lane with N-Trance…plus one of the 90’s most infamous characters will be present – MR BLOBBY – it’s rather difficult to explain Mr Blobby who, inexplicably, had a number 1 hit in the 90’s despite being unable to say anything other than “blobby, blobby, blooby” so instead check out this video of him appearing on ‘The Big Fat Quiz of the 90’s’ a few years back.

With all this and much, more include a circus, fun fair, big top, loads of food options and much much more it’s fair to say that Gloworm promises to be the perfect – and much needed – family party as we all look to move forward after a tough 18 months.
