News: Organisers look forward to Notts County Show 2016 with only 90 days to go

Countdown to show 2016

The clock is counting down to one of Nottinghamshire’s popular annual highlights which will see more than 20,000 people descend on Newark Showground in May.

There are only 99 days to go until the return of the Nottinghamshire County Show and with extreme sports, live music, urban free runners, cookery demonstrations and a field gun display, it is set to be a bumper year for visitors.

Jayne Olney, show manager, said preparations are well underway and organisers are looking forward to welcoming a varied mix of exhibitors, attractions and showcasing all that Nottinghamshire has to offer.

“With only 99 days until the show we have been busy making sure everything runs like clockwork on the day for the thousands of visitors.

“There really will be something for everyone – it’s the first year we have secured the free runners which is high octane entertainment, we’re working on a new treasure trail for the children and many eclectic music performances to entertain the crowds.

“Come rain or shine, the show promises a full day of things to see and do thanks to our mix of indoor and outdoor events.”

The prestigious county show will be held on 14 and 15 May and will be jam-packed full of activities and attractions to keep all the family entertained.

New to the show this year will be a “Notts On Show” area in the George Stephenson Exhibition Hall, a music marquee, fun treasure activity trails for children and more.

Jayne added: “We are fortunate to have both local and national traders already booked and a busy schedule of entertainment secured for the two day event but trade space is filling up, so I would encourage traders who want to be at this year’s event to contact the showground for more information and book within the earlybird rate.

“In the Main Ring we have the Portsmouth Action Field Gun Display which will demonstrate athleticism with its competitive Field Gun runs to amaze the crowds.”

All ages will enjoy Inspire Shows, showing their agility, body power and strength as they co-ordinate a free running routine in the George Stevenson Exhibition Hall with runners flipping and leaping through the air – across any obstacle in their path!

Visitors will also have the chance to see the BMX Flatland bike breakdancing with fast floor spins and an array of tricks in between shows in the Lincs FM performance Ring.

Along with the breakdancing, dance groups, gymnastic clubs, circus skills and Taekwondo displays will take place in the George Stevenson building.
