A host of characters and a pair of singing Disney princesses proved to be the stars of the show when a Nottingham restaurant hosted a lunchtime fundraising bash for charity.

COSMO Authentic World Kitchen, in Milton Street, echoed to the sound of the Disney classic Let It Go, from the film Frozen, as part of the fun, which took place at the restaurant yesterday afternoon.(aug2)

The event was organised by city charity When You Wish Upon A Star, which is the restaurant’s charity of the year and the recipient of money raised through COSMO’s Family Tuesdays scheme, a special weekly event where children under 150cm eat for £1.

Among the characters who turned up were Frozen’s cartoon sisters Anna and Elsa, Chase from Nickleodeon’s Paw Patrol, a minion from the popular Despicable Me films, the Transformer Bumblebee and Wish Bear, the mascot for When You Wish Upon A Star.

Three families, whose children have benefitted from the charity’s work, which involves granting wishes for kids living with a life-threatening illnesses across the UK, also attended the event.

James Brion, director of COSMO Authentic World Kitchen, said: “We had a wonderful time hosting the event and thanks must go to everybody at the charity, as well as everyone who gave up their time to take part.

“We are thoroughly enjoying our partnership with When You Wish Upon A Star. It is an extremely worthy cause and we hope to raise plenty of money through our Family Tuesdays events.”

When You Wish Upon a Star has organised thousands of memorable experiences since it was founded in 1990, including Harry Potter-themed trips, a once-in-a-lifetime trip to swim with dolphins and its annual trip to visit Santa Claus in Lapland.

Maggie Falconer, the charity’s regional fundraiser for Nottingham, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to COSMO for working with us to organise such a wonderful and successful event.

“Everybody who came along thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was lovely to hear so many people young and old singing along to Let It Go!”
