Food: Grape Expectations for first wine tasting evening at Nottingham’s No/6 bar.

Bar Manager Adam Stephenson gives cocktail masterclass

NOTTINGHAM’S hidden bar, the No/6, is to launch its winter calendar of events this week with its first ever wine tasting evening.

Hosted in the sumptuous surroundings of the newly refurbished bar on St James Street in the city centre, the evening will offer guests the chance to sample a variety of wines from the No/6 cellar, including Plate 95 Sauvignon Blanc, Aimery Chardonnay, Château de l’Abbaye Fleurie and Las Ondas Pinot Noir Rosé.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 22 from 7pm.

Bar manager at the No/6 Adam Stephenson said the wine tasting evening was set to become a regular event in the venue’s calendar.

He said: “On the night we will offer guests the chance to sample of wide range of hand-picked wines from our relaunched menu from countries all over the world.

“This is the first wine tasting evening we have held at the No/6 and we have already had a lot of enquiries about how to book a spot on the night. I’m really excited about the evening, to hear what our expert sommelier has to say about each wine and to hear feedback on the different tastes and flavours from our guests.”

Steve Redfern from Carlsberg UK will host the evening on behalf of Crown Cellars, the No/6’s wine supplier.

Following the wine tasting evening, the next exclusive event at the No/6 will be an evening of bonfire whiskey cocktails and live jazz on November 5, then an evening with local real ale breweries on November 19 and also a Burleigh’s gin and food pairing evening on November 26.

Adam added: “Following the relaunch of the No/6 in September, we have introduced a fantastic range of independent brands to our drinks menu and we felt it was only right to help showcase these through specifically themed events, such as the gin pairing night.

“Each of these events will require advance booking as we want our guests to feel relaxed and unrushed during the talks, presentations and tasting sessions. We will also be organising cocktail masterclasses in December where customers will have the chance to really get involved in the drink-making process.”

To book a place on the wine tasting evening, which costs £15 per person, call 0115 9411 114 or email info@number-six.co.uk.
