To Chino Latino.
Happy Birthday,
I would have got you a present but what do you get for the restaurant that’s got it all already? Well other than a great big Japanese themed Birthday Party that is.

Now you’re at the grand age of 12, if you were a child you would be heading towards those awkward years, yet you’ve been able to maintain your stylish, award-winning reputation all this time. So ,as a Nottingham foodie, I’m pleased to have you as friend.

Don’t get me wrong, I know we’ve had a bit of a love/hate relationship in the past. I’ve visited you on many occasions and the taster menu was fantastic. Yet remember that awkward time you’d run out of some of the items on the menu?  Then I waited ages for my food and everything pretty much came out  together, and the other time we fell out because despite booking, my table still wasn’t ready after half an hour? In other words, when you’re good you’re an amazing friend and I love you but when you’re bad, it’s disappointing but you know I always come back.

Now a multi-award winning Pan-Asian restaurant, your menu draws influence from Japanese, Chinese, South East Asian, Vietnamese and Thai cuisines, so, at the expense of my expanding waistline (it comes with age, you’ll get there), its win win. I love the fact you’re uber-chic with your colour scheme in signature Chino Latino red and black, and the fact you have an open kitchen where I can see the talented chefs at work (many of whom hail from some of London’s finest Michelin starred Japanese restaurants).

Your amazing meals stay in my mind and are up there with some of the best In Nottingham, so I was delighted when I received an invitation from Cartwright Communications to help celebrate your Birthday on Thursday 26th March.

With your other friends we toasted you. There was a choice of free drinks including wine and beer but you know me, I had to choose the Prosecco. I loved the chance to sample some of your excellent food again, beginning with the Sushi. There was a huge selection to choose from as well as your busy chefs making seaweed cones in front of us, freshly filled to order according to the our tastes. I tucked into a delicious Sea Bass filling with an added touch of spice. Delicious!

Having a Japanese theme, images of cherry blossom flashed up on the large screen before us  as canapés featuring other delicious examples of food from the restaurant, including your lovely crunchy Taquitos, were passed around before finishing with an amazing dessert table.
So have a fabulous year Chino, you gorgeous thing you, and I definitely hope to catch up with you again before your next birthday.
Lots of Love,
Tanya Raybould
