Pop art pioneer Sir Peter Blake, designer of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club album cover, is the inspiration for the Hands on Holidays workshops this Easter at The Harley Gallery at Welbeck.

Taking place on Wednesday 30th March, 6th and 13th April, the one hour workshops at The Harley Gallery will see children creating bug masks and pocket-sized travel journals while experimenting with colours, textures and patterns inspired by Sir Peter Blake’s World Series of original collages, currently on display.

Dayle Green, Education and Engagement Manager, said: “Our Hands on Holidays workshops are a great way for children to explore the work of this much loved artist while learning how to create their own collage. The sessions encourage parents to have a go with their children, so everyone gets a chance to get creative.”

The workshops run from 11am-midday and midday-1pm and are priced at £2.50 per child. With limited places available, sessions must be pre-booked and children accompanied by an adult at all times. Call 01909 501700 to book.

Sir Peter Blake is renowned for his collages and is probably best known as the creator of the iconic Beatles album cover for Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. His work will be displayed at The Harley Gallery as part of The Grand Tour Season Two from 20th March to 5th June.

Fans of Sir Peter Blake will also enjoy a visit to Welbeck’s historic Portland Collection, just next door, where Sir Peter has selected the opening display of miniature portraits.
