This week sees another Julia Donaldson (&Lydia Monks) adaptation at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal, the beautiful portrayal of What the Ladybird Heard.

This family show is recommended for 3+ but there were plenty of littler ones loving it there yesterday. The cast encourage audience participation so there were plenty of Moo’s (and other assorted indistinguishable farmyard noises) coming from the little voices. As well as them all desperately craning their necks trying to spot the ladybird followed by excited shouting and pointing when they did!

Everything about this show is sweet, the characters are endearing, the set is colourful and imaginative, the story is easily followed, the songs are easy, the live music is comical and catchy and the overall feel is gentle. A must for your little one, and ideal length too, with a runtime of 55minutes. It is showing Friday – Sunday 10:30, 1:30 and 4:30 with tickets from £10 available here: www.trch.co.uk
