Theatre Review: Room on the Broom

The fantastic Room on the Broom is back at Nottingham Theatre Royal this week. Based on the children’s favourite by Julia Donaldson, the story of the witch and her cat on the way to fight the dragon is brought to life by the Tall Stories production team.

The story is slightly adapted to stretch it out for the stage, with the story interspersed with original songs. There is a “Mirandaesque” witch who has a jelly baby obsession, a very jealous cat and a welsh dragon resulting in lots of laughs for all the family.

For me there may have been a bit too much straying from the story and one too many songs but there was just the right element of pantomime to ensure everyone had a good time.

Room on the Broom is showing until Sunday 17th March, but tickets are almost sold out! If you have missed your chance to see this show then book your tickets for Zog which is coming in late May. For more information go to www.trch.co.uk
