Theatre Review: Assassins

The Nottingham Playhouse has another triumph on its stage. The most exciting irreverent non PC production I have ever had the privilege to experience.

I just loved every second of the nearly two hours, the dialogue, the musicality, the dance, the wit, the voices, the acting, the dark humour, the staging were all so unexpectedly brilliant.

Be warned the show includes lots of profanity but this is what makes it real and relevant. It covers the attempted and successful “murders” of the presidents of America.

A musical written 30 years ago, mega fresh still, by Soldheim.

The performances by the 15 musicians/actors/singers were professionals at the top of their game. Stand out for me and the best monologues I have ever seen and will never forget was performed by Steve Simmons as Samuel Byck, he attempted the assassination of President Nixon. All the cast were outstanding mind.

This phenomenal production runs until the 16th November.
