Friday September 20
The Key Notes Band and singers are performing at Mapperley Social Club, tickets are £5 and doors open 7.30pm. Root Down at Peggy’s Skylight on George Street in Hockley with jazz and blues singer Aydenne Simone and The Big Mama Trio, doors open at 7pm, tickets are £15, afterwards DJ Daddio and The Jazz Ambassadors play until late.
Saturday September 21

Djanco fuse the spirit of gypsy swing with the flair of flamenco to create a distinctive jazz flavour at Peggy’s; their performance features violin virtuoso Andy Aitchison. Tickets are £12/10 and doors open at 7pm.  There is also afternoon tea accompanied by Paul Deats’ piano between 12 and 5pm at the same venue.

Sunday September 22
12 To The Bar play at Newark RAFA Club from 12-2pm, entry is £3 on the door which includes a buffet lunch.  Ed Marchewicz toots his flute and sax alongside Matt Ratcliffe on piano at Peggy’s for a Sunday Mezinee concert between from 1-3pm.  From 6pm the same venue hosts a Tap Rhythm Jazz Jam led by Jess Murray with music by guitarist Joe Egan’s Trio; entry is £8 or there’s a deal on food plus entry for £14.  From 6.30-7.15pm is a tap improvisation workshop (tap shoes are provided) and the jam is from 7.30-9.30pm.  Shell’s Belles blow at the Lion in Basford from 1.30-3.30pm, I’m singing with them. The Nottingham Jazz Orchestra present autumnal classics at The Federation Club on Claremont Road, music starts at 8pm, get there early to get a good seat, it’s £10 entry.
Monday September 23
The Alfa Big Swing Band are at The Village Inn in Marehay from 8.30pm.
Tuesday September 24
It’s Dexter’s Jazz Club at The Headstocks in Cinderhill with Ed Marchewicz’ quartet featuring Barry Lee on keys, Geoff Pearson on double bass and Clive Loveday on drums from 8.30pm, entry is £6.
Wednesday September 25
There’s a World Music Consortium at Peggy’s from 7pm.
Thursday September 26
Jazz Steps present the Partisans at the Bonington Theatre in Arnold. Formed in 1996, they have been thrilling audiences with their ferociously energetic performances; their stellar line up is Gene Calderazzo drums, Thaddeus Kelly bass, Julian Siegel saxophone and Phil Robson guitar.  Music starts at 8pm and entry is £12/5 NUS – do book in advance from the theatre.  Same time at Peggy’s is the Nottingham Jazz jam with a house band featuring Rachael Johnson on keys, Dominic Holmes on bass and Andrew Wood on drums; get there early to get your name down if you want to get up.  The Unwin Club in Sutton-in-Ashfield present Washington Whirligig at 8.30pm; entry is £7/6 for members.  Nottingham Rhythm Club at The Stadium Leisure Snooker Club, Nottingham Road, Basford have Kevin Grenfell’s Jazz Giants from 8-10.30pm; doors open at 7pm and entry is £9/8 for members or £6 NUS.
Where no entry fee is mentioned please assume your purchases from the venue support the live music.
