Having already seen the first Nottingham Festival of Word take place this year the growing literacy scene in the city continues with the launch of the very first children’s reading festival in Nottingham taking place this October.

Tales from the Riverbank takes place in Ladybay on Saturday 12 October and will offer a host of events for children of all ages featuring authors, illustrators and storytellers to deliver as series of work shops, sessions and more.

The event is open to children from 3 to 13 and there will be much to fire up their young imaginations including a reading corner, book swap and stalls.

Events will take place at All Hallows Church, Lady Bay Primary School, Scout Hunt and the Lady Bay Pub throughout the course of the day and with all three venues only being a couple of minutes apart moving around will be no problem on the day.

There is a packed schedule of events taking place throughout the course of the day, with events aimed at children of all ages and all aimed at encouraging children to enjoy the rich and wonderful world of storytelling.

From Story Telling sessions to creative story workshops, animation from Sojo Animation, drawing and writing skill sessions such as Everyone Can Draw Animals, colouring competitions, book swaps and a reading corner – sponsored by Bongo Bongo, there is plenty going on with sessions aimed at different age groups to enjoy plenty for all children.

A host of local authors, illustrators and animators will be on hand throughout the day for what promises to be a great event to celebrate the joys of reading.
