Ska Legends to headline Splendour

Ska legends THE SPECIALS have been announced as the headliners for this year’s SPLENDOUR FESTIVAL.

The two-tone ska punk band will be skanking it up on the main stage at Wollaton Park on Saturday 18 July at the festival which attracts around 20,000 each year.

Fans descending on the festival will be able to enjoy classic hits such as A Message to you Rude, Too Much too young and the hit Ghost Town.

Talking about the announcement George Akins head of the festivals promoters DHP Family said:

“Although the band were only around for a short time in their heyday, nearly every one of their songs from their debut album has rightly become a classic over the intervening decades. I know they will go down a storm at Splendour as they still sound as vital and relevant today as they did when they burst onto the scene in 1979.”

DHP Family will be announcing further acts for the three stages over the coming weeks and we are sure that, as in previous years, there will be a heavy presence from the Nottingham scene as well as a host of well known and up and coming artists. The event will also feature a bigger and better entertainment offering including fringe acts as well as a new expanded children’s area helping to cement the festivals place as one of the best family festivals of the year.
