Review: Wreck – The Nottingham Playhouse

Wreck is apparently the first play that Toby Campion ever wrote. The Leicester born poet and writer debuts ‘Wreck’ at the Nottingham Playhouse and it appears to be a night of firsts.
The shows director Alexandra Moxon also is at the helm for the first time and the one cast member, Luke Grant is turning pro with tonights performance.
All i can say is they are doing something right as Wreck is absolutly brilliant.
Toby Campion’s story of an average Notts lad, Tariq (luke grant) is returning home from Edinburgh after seeing his girlfriend when his life derails (bad pun).
Tariq is likeable and relatable which heightens the drama all the more so as the story develops. Luke Grant’s powerful and mesmerising performance really resonated with me and my plus one. Bringing home a perspective all but snuffed out in the mainstream narrative.
I implore you to see Wreck while it is on. As i stood applauding at the final bows I am tempted myself to go back and experience it all over again.
Highly recommended.
Wreck is on until 30th September
