The pantomime season is nearly upon us, next week in fact , and yes , Cinderella is on at the Theatre Royal Nottingham. However we went to the ballet Cinderella, a production from Northern Ballet and David Nixon, they choose to place this Cinders in Russia, Moscow to be exact, and it worked marvellously.
We see Cinders in a winter wonderland performing ballet on pretend ice, we see Cinders at the market with a dancing bear and jugglers. The costumes were different from your typical Cinderella story and there was no Fairy godmother but what we were offered was much better.

I enjoyed particularly the Step Mother performed last night by MInju Kang, she was a great ballerina and actor even when the focus wasn’t on her.
The orchestra was in the very capable hands of Jonathan Lo.

One disappointment for me was that Cinderella actually went off with the Prince who wasn’t in the least bit charming.

This delightful ballet is in until Saturday 23rd November with two matinees, tickets start at a very reasonable price.
