What is milonga? It is a tango late night dance party simply put. But the milonga showcased at the Royal Concert Hall was nothing but simple, other than simply entrancing. We were treated to 17 highly skilled artists at the top of their game, 5 musicians and 12 dancers as well as cleverly done video projections.
Tango is passionate and can be quite fierce but this production was sleek, seductive and in places quite sexy. The physique of the dancers showed how fit and athletic these dancers are, I don’t expect any of them have to count their 10,000 steps on a fitbit.
If it hadn’t of been the day after the election and watching the results throughout the night, we would have enjoyed the outstanding performances more, also the theatre was quite chilly which wasn’t conducive to a good hot atmosphere.
Milonga are coming to the end of a long worldwide tour but I am sure they will tour again in the future, go see them then.
There are other great dance performances and shows coming up at Royal Concert Hall this summer.
