Review: Milkshake Live

IMG_0894

Last Saturday I had high hopes of really enjoying the latest family show at TRCH, after some simply amazing shows so far this year; Showstoppers, Justin’s Party and Room on Broom in particular.

However, Milkshake Live, just didn’t compare sadly. The cast were definitely enthusiastic but the premise of the show was just too complicated. The story involved a number of fairytales with tenuous links to current shows on milkshake as a way to bring recognisable characters on to the stage, such as Fireman Sam appearing in Dick Whittington. I have a masters and couldn’t follow it, despite the 10 minute explanation at the beginning to explain what was about to happen, the kids had no hope.

That being said, the cast of Milkshake presenters, were full of energy and tried their best to engage with the children in the audience. There were plenty of songs and pretty lights, although the sound was so loud at certain points I had to cover my little ones ears!

It was a little disappointing but it’s made me look forward to the upcoming kids show The GRUFFALO even more, as I know this will be great as was Room on a Broom and it’s by the same production company, Tall Stories. Tickets for that show are available now at www.trch.co.uk and see our preview here.
