Review: James Blunt – Motorpoint Arena Nottingham

James Blunt 001 (Large)

“I wasn’t expecting that” sang Jamie Lawson, the support act on Friday night at the Motor point Arena and I wasn’t, it was a superb concert. I thought it would be quite a tame performance very nice and sweet, perhaps even get home early…wrong, it was high energy and James rocked his audience.
Captain Blount as he was once known, was ‘pitch perfect’ according to my son, every song ‘sounded better live than on his albums’. His backing band, entourage, camera man etc were of top quality.  The video used behind the stage and the close ups of the band were beautifully done, such talent.
The audience too wasn’t what I expected either, Bluntys come in all shapes sizes and ages, lots of whole families thoroughly enjoying themselves, most knowing every lyric and singing dancing along, which James loved and encouraged.
James is in the middle of a world tour, the amount of dates and destinations would impress anyone http://www.jamesblunt.com/tour“>http://www.jamesblunt.com/tour</a> having just come back from touring extensively in Europe.
He was supporting his great mate Ed Sheeran in America for over 3 months this summer too, what a hard working talented artist he is.
The set list included an audience favourite the aptly named ‘Someone Sing Along’, as well as ‘Make Me Better’, ‘Goodbye My Lover’, ‘Lose My Number’ ‘Bonfire Night’ and of course ‘You’re Beautiful’.
It was a very successful and enjoyable evening at an amazing venue, thank you Mr Blunt.
