Review: Bipolar Sunshine – Rescue Rooms – 3 April 2015

On a rainy Good Friday, a crowd of all ages flocked to see BIPOLAR SUNSHINE (AKA Adio Marchant) perform his rescheduled date at the Rescue Rooms and start the Easter weekend with some upbeat, funky and danceable live music.
Manchester band AUGUST & US warmed the crowd up; and at the early stage time of 8.30, Marchant walks on stage with a drummer and a bassist, a nice addition to what the audience had presumed would be solely a backing-track based gig.
Marchant treated the crowd to a cover of Mad World by Tears for Fears, and although it may seem like an unusual choice for an artist such as Bipolar Sunshine, the audience enjoyed it and were all singing along happily.

Further into the set Marchant sings one of his most popular songs – Where Did The Love Go – and added his own twist by mashing it up with ‘FourFiveSeconds’ by Rihanna – a winning combination which pleased the audience.
Bipolar Sunshine closed the short but sweet set with ‘Daydreamer’ – a dancey and poppy track in which Marchant’s has similarities with Labrinth. Closing with ‘Love More Worry Less’, Marchant thanked the audience for turning up and gave a quick shout out to some family members who were present in the crowd. There was no encore which could be expected from an artist without an album (hopefully due to be released by the end of this year), however Marchant definitely proved that he possesses the energy and talent to perform long and dance filled sets in the future.
