Preview: Waterfront Festival – The Canalhouse – 15 August

This Saturday sees the return of the Waterfront Festival and, what is more, it will be celebrating its fifth birthday – which means you can expect an even bigger, better and downright messier festival than ever before.

A joint venture from the absolutely ace folks at I’m Not From London and Audacious Face, Waterfront has become an unmissable event on the Nottingham music calendar while, at the same time, has raised a tonne of money for great local causes.

As ever the festival takes place over three stages at the Canalhouse, the downstairs stage, sponsored by LeftLion, the upstairs Castle Rock stage and the outdoor stage, ran by the great folks at Under the Tree, and you can expert an exciting and deverse selection of music throughout the day from chilled back acoustic acts to full, in your face rock and even the stage show delights of Mrs Green. There really is plenty to choose from.

The LeftLion Stage will feature sets from a huge selection of bands including the ace DEAF BRIDGES with their self-proclaimed “danger pop”, the immersive instrumental sounds of 8MM ORCHESTRA, the haunting vocals of BARNUM MESERVE, proper rock sounds from JD & THE FDC’S and cold-wave/post-punk darkness from LUXURY STRANGER.

Upstairs on the Castle Rock stage there will be a host of great up and coming bands including one of the most talked about new bands on the Nottingham scene, the ace EYRE LLEW, plus the well established THE GORGEOUS CHANS, one of the best bands to break out in 2013 FIELD STUDIES and the excellent CROSA ROSA.

As ever outside is the place to go for great acoustic tracks, courtesy of the fine folks at Under the Tree, who have, once again, put together a stellar line up, featuring a huge selection of ace Nottingham acts including 94 GUNSHIPS, KETO, JOSH WHEATLEY, JAMIE MOON and THE BREAKFAST CLUB.

These are just a small snippet of the great acts you can see, each and every one having earned a slot on stage at this festival extravaganza, it is safe to say you won’t be short of choices on the day.

As said before the Waterfront Festival has prided itself on supporting local causes, having raised over £13,000 in previous years and is once again raising money to do good in 2015, this year the festival will be supporting the Nottingham City Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Campaign and Emmanuel House. Both of the organisations do great work in the city and both are in need of all the help and support they can get and will benefit hugely from the festival.

Tickets are just £7 in advance, a true bargain, but look certain to sell out (if they haven’t already).

For more information check out the official Facebook page for the festival.

The Waterfront Festival takes place at The Canalhouse on Saturday 15 August 2015.

We are also pleased to be able to confirm that NGDigital will be live streaming from the festival, you can tune in to that, as well as the other great NGDigital shows at www.ng-digital.co.uk*
