Famed for his Hollywood film scores Erich Korngold’s unashamedly Romantic Violin Concerto is a powerfully emotive piece, ideally suited to the expressive style of our soloist, Norwegian Vilde Frang. Inspired by Berlioz’s obsessive love for actress Harriet Smithson, the Symphonie Fantastique is a feverish drama of an artist haunted by the image of his ideal woman. The programme also features Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes.
