The iconic Rock City floor has gone on sale today (Friday 3 May) with the thousands of fans who signed up to own a piece of rock history given first chance to buy.

Everyone who signed up has been given an exclusive pre sale link for the chance to bag their piece from the Nottingham venue before it goes on general sale a week later on Friday 10 May.

The pre sale took place from Friday 3 May at 9am when everyone was emailed an exclusive online link where they can make their purchase.

With a nod to its 40-year history, one of the pieces features the 80s logo of the Talbot Street venue, alongside a choice of three other branded stamps carved into the wood. Small square tiles are priced £27.50 and full size tiles are £37.50 (includes postage).

With more than 15,000 people registered and just 5,000 pieces going on sale, it’s expected the iconic dancefloor will sell out fast.

Rock City promotions manager AJ Stevenson said: “We didn’t realise at the time we started this just how many people would be interested and how many people really do love Rock City. So we’re very pleased to be able to offer all the fans the chance to have a piece of a venue that has seen so many good times and holds so many memories.”

Made of Canadian Maple, the limited edition pieces have been cleaned, sanded and branded with the Rock City logo.

AJ added: “We have worked hard with a local craftsman to turn the sections of our old floor into a bespoke piece of music memorabilia which we are very proud of. It’s a piece of music history!!”

After opening in 1980, Rock City has seen the likes of Nirvana, David Bowie, The Smiths, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age, Rage Against The Machine and countless more grace its stage.

Any remaining pieces will be put on general sale on Friday 10 May.
