NottinghamLIFE: Notts tax partner says Autumn Statement “fantastic for Nottingham’s up-and-coming science and technology businesses”

Simon Browning

Simon Browning, tax partner at UHY Hacker Young in Nottingham, said: “This afternoon’s Autumn Statement felt like a security blanket for the everyman and sales pitch to global businesses.

“There was a massive focus on stimulating our economy and concentrating on innovation and infrastructure, however there was no timeframe or exact detail here, so it will be interesting to see the government’s next steps.

“The Chancellor is looking outside of London, which is positive for the Midlands, and recognising the thriving businesses and opportunities for investment the regions have on offer. This is fantastic for Nottingham’s up-and-coming science and technology businesses, which have received renewed faith from the government and are being held up as pioneers of innovation, staying in-line with the recurring themes of Hammond’s statement.”
