Students at Hollygirt School in Mapperley Park were jumping for joy this morning (August 25) as they tore open their GCSE results.

The school saw some of its best results to date this year, with almost 60% of pupils receiving all A/A* grades; 85% with A*/A/B grades and 95.3% with A*-C grades.

Head teacher Pam Hutley said: “Hollygirt takes a mixed ability entry and I am impressed with the endeavour of our pupils and staff who work together with a common purpose – to get the best for each individual.

“Of course, the bald statistics belie a greater truth – one of fabulous progress for individuals. The school does not take part in the new government initiative, Progress 8,  but we analyse what our pupils should get according to their data and what they could get, linked to their teacher predictions for them, so that we know just how far they have come.”

Most Hollygirt learners take nine GCSEs as standard, although a couple will do more. All are encouraged to attempt GCSEs and none are precluded if the school thinks there is little chance of achieving a C grade.

Pam added: “All we do, we do with integrity, striving simply for the very best outcome.

“We congratulate all our leavers and wish them a relaxing few days before commencing their post 16 studies in schools and colleges around the region.”

Hollygirt, a small co-educational independent school, is situated just off Mansfield Road, just north of the city centre. The school still has a few places available for September if parents are unsure of the choices they have made for the education of their sons and daughters.

The school’s next open day is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, October 1, 2016.
