As the producer of Coronation Street, Kate made a triumphant return to her former school to speak about the progression of her career and how Ockbrook School gave her a great start.

Kate says: “It was such a privilege to return to Ockbrook School, as it’s the place I first discovered my love of drama and storytelling.

“As I started out in radio and television it was clear to me that Ockbrook had provided the strong foundations I needed to succeed. Meeting the students at speech day, and celebrating their varied and impressive achievements, left me in no doubt that Mr Brooksby and his team are ensuring today’s pupils benefit from that same great start to their careers.”

Headmaster, Tom Brooksby said: “Kate is a wonderful ambassador for our school and we’re honoured she found time in her busy schedule to return for speech day. Coronation Street is a national institution and one that we’re all very familiar with, so students were more than eager to hear her journey from leaving school to where she is today.”
