Adrenalin Jungle, in partnership with Archery GB, is giving adults and children the chance to discover their inner Robin Hood in one-hour ‘Have a Go’ archery sessions next month.

The two have teamed up to help create a legacy around the European Archery Championship which takes place during May at the University of Nottingham’s Highfields playing fields and in Old Market Square.

Targeting would-be archers, the novice sessions in Sherwood Forest aim to raise awareness and participation in archery throughout Nottinghamshire.

To encourage people of all ages to try the sport for themselves, Adrenalin Jungle is offering a 50 per cent discount on its Archery experience during the two weekends following the championship.

Amy Curnock, development co-ordinator with Archery GB in Nottinghamshire, said she was delighted to be working with Adrenalin Jungle in what promised to be an exciting, family-friendly opportunity to promote the sport to a wider audience.

She added: “Archery GB welcomes Adrenalin Jungle’s support in this venture, which will help us continue to raise archery’s profile on the back of the European Championship.”

The ‘Have a Go’ sessions will be available at 11am on Saturday 4 June, Sunday 5 June and Saturday 11 June at Adrenalin Jungle’s Sherwood Forest centre and should be booked in advance.

Don Logan, owner of the Adrenalin Jungle, said: “We’re holding open sessions to give single people and small groups the opportunity to take part in this great sport and inspire more people to take up archery. We have fantastic coaches including a former county archer and it’s a great day out for people of all ages.”

Each session can accommodate up to 12 people at a time, and, should demand be particularly high, additional sessions will be offered.

All the sessions are open to children aged eight plus but young archers aged between eight and 12 must be booked on to their session with an adult.

To encourage participation, prices have been cut from £20 to £10 for adults and from £15 to £7.50 for children.

To book and pay for their ‘Have a Go’ session, novice archers should call Adrenalin Jungle on 01623 883980 any time between 10 am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, quoting booking reference AECN2016.

The official practice, opening ceremony and qualification for the 24th European Archery Championship take place from 23-27 May, with the final being staged in front of Nottingham Council House on 28-29 May.
