Unknown-2

Happy New Year jazzers – let’s continue partying like it’s 1949!

I’m singing with the fabulous Stephen Sherriff on keys at the Hop Pole next to the Chilwell Rd tram stop on Friday January 4 from 9-11pm (I may sit on keys for a while also so he can blow his alto sax – variety is the spice of life..) Reeds man Matt Palmer’s Trio perform their swinging sets at the Pelican Club in the Lace Market from 10pm-12 midnight.
Jazz and blues singer Fiona Stein returns from London to sit in with PRS (Steve Rodda on guitar, Si Potts on drums and Mat Short on bass) at Stray’s Tapas and Jazz in Newark on Saturday January 5 from 3-5pm.
The Footwarmers continue their weekly residency at The Bell Inn on Angel Row from 12 midday on Sunday January 6.  Pianist/singer and BBC Radio 2 regular Wendy Kirkland’s Trio featuring Pat Sprakes on double bass perform at The Lion in Basford from 1.30-3.30pm.
Saxophonist Ben Martin’s band play at The Bell Inn on Angel Row on Monday January 7 from 8.30-10.30pm.
Jazz Steps open their spring season at the Bonington Theatre in Arnold with Yana led by Corey Mwamba on vibes on Thursday January 10; joining him are Joshua Blackmore on drums and David Kaneon bass.  Tickets are £12/5 NUS and their show starts at 8pm.  Triol are a piano trio led by composer Matt Ratcliffe who take to the stage at Peggy’s Skylight on George Street in Hockley from 7pm on Thursday January 20, entry is £5.
Where no entry fee is mentioned please assume your ample purchases from the venue will support the live music.
