Ding dong merrily on Friday December 21 when Local gypsy-swingers Manière des Bohémiens perform at Peggy’s Skylight for their Christmas party; entry is £10 from 7pm. It’s also the Cranberry Flick Christmas Show at the Duchess Theatre in Long Eaton where entry is £5 from 8pm.

Stay’s in Newark host Wendy Kirkland on keys and vocals with Pat Sprakes on guitar and Mat Short on bass on Saturday December 22 from 3-5pm. The Pelican Club in the Lace Market has guitarist Richard Smith with trumpeter/singer Teddy Fullick from 7-8.30pm. Schmörgan (Matt Ratcliffe on organ and Jonathan Curtis on drums) accompany yours truly singing funky beatnik Xmas songs at the Berliner Bar on Chilwell Rd, Beeston from 8.30pm for their cool Christmas Party. Peggy’s Skylight on George Street in Hockley present some hot young talent from the London scene; saxophonist Nye Banfield and his band, entry is £10 from 7pm and post show DJs spin vinyl until late.

Sunday December 23 finds the Shipstone Street Jazz Orchestra with singer Sarah Simmonds playing their Christmas repertoire at The Lion in Basford from 1.30-3.30pm. Me and Mr Jones perform at Peggy’s Skylight from 2pm. Theresa Caruana sings with Ben Martin on sax and Barry Lee on keys at The Nelson in Burton Joyce from 7.30pm.

Trumpeter Hugh Pascall’s band bring their cool bebop to Peggy’s Skylight from 7pm on Thursday December 27, entry is £5.

Friday December 28 Teddy Fullick and Richard Smith perform at Oscar’s in Newark this time joined by pianist Richard Hallam from 8.30pm.

On Saturday December 29 at Stray’s In Newark I’m singing with PRS (Si Potts on drums, Steve Rodda on guitar and Mat Short on bass) from 3-5pm. Kokopelli (Ed Marchewicz on sax and flute with Elliott Lewis on guitar) play at the Pelican Club in the Lace Market from 7.30pm.

On Sunday December 30 The Lion in Basford have Teddy Fullick’s Quintet featuring John Sanderson on tenor sax/flute from 1.30-3.30pm.  Peggy’s Skylight host a Hard Bop Christmas from 2-10pm starting with the Nottingham Jazz Jam wherein the featured artists are myself alongside singer Rachel Foster; the floor opens up to guests in the second half, which looks set to run and run. Stay, indulge and even partake – entry is £6/4 for jammers.

Me and Mr Jones plus Thom Whitworth’s Funky Organ and DJs play for Peggy’s Skylight’s NYE Toonenanny 7pm-2am – a delicious 3 course meal is included with entry; £50 for an individual ticket or £95 for 2 available in advance from their website.



Where no entry fee is mentioned you can assume your liberal purchases at the venues pay for the live music – do have a very jazzy Christmas and a swinging New Year!
