Motorpoint and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham are partnering to launch a designated driver incentive over the festive period.
The UK’s leading independent car retailer, which has held the naming rights for the popular entertainment venue for the last three years, wants to spread the message about safe driving this Christmas – just as police forces around the region embark on their annual drink driving awareness campaigns.
To champion alcohol free motoring, Motorpoint are inviting ticket holders attending shows at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham between 25 November – 20 December to nominate their designated driver for the chance to have the cost of their Arena tickets refunded. This includes sell-out shows by Jack Whitehall, Liam Gallagher, Pete Tong and Michael Bublé.
To enter, ticket holders will simply tell the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham the name of their designated driver and why they should win, including the event they’re attending, via social media (attaching a photo of the driver will be a bonus!). The winners will be announced on social media within 48 hours of the end of each show and will be refunded the value of two of their tickets. Proof of purchase will be required.
Mark Carpenter, Chief Operating Officer of Motorpoint, said:  “We know that being the designated driver on a night out can feel like a sacrifice for some, especially at Christmas but getting your friends, family or colleagues home safely is one of this most important things you can do. To recognise the efforts of these designated driving superheroes, we’ve joined forces with the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham so ticket holders with a driver can be in with the chance of winning back the cost of their tickets over this festive season.”
The launch of this designated driver incentive comes in the wake of a new poll by Motorpoint which found 70.6 per cent of people would welcome a complete ban on consumption of alcohol behind the wheel.  The drink drive limit in England and Wales is currently 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood – the highest in Europe. The drink drive limit in Scotland was reduced to 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood almost five years ago to fall in line with most other European countries.
Sharon Lordan, Sales and Marketing Director at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham added; “What better way to say thank you to your designated driver this Christmas than by treating them to a big night out, courtesy of Motorpoint? Everyone at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham looks forward to seeing the hashtag #DesignatedDriver trending on social media over the coming weeks.”
