Nottingham chef Alex Bond, who runs Alchemilla restaurant on Derby Road in Nottingham, has been shortlisted in the prestigious Estrella Dam National Restaurant Awards in the ‘Chefs to Watch’ category.

The Annual awards, which are organised by Restaurant Magazine, recognise the UK’s brightest and best restaurants and chefs as voted for by the people who really know their stuff- top chefs, restauranteurs and food writers.

Alex has been nominated amongst some of the most prodigious new talent in the UK restaurant scene and interestingly he is the only chef to be nominated with a restaurant north of the Watford Gap.

Alex opened Alchemilla in August 2017. The restaurant serves modern British food, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients, in particular vegetables, which are allowed to take centre stage within a modern and thoughtfully constructed menu. The menu changes depending on what is growing and available and what the team have foraged. Diners can choose from 10 or seven courses at dinner, plus an additional five course menu at lunch and from Tuesday to Thursday evenings.

Alchemilla is the culmination of Alex’s long-held dream to open his own restaurant after many years working with some of the country’s best Michelin starred chefs including Sat Bains, Phil Thompson at Auberge du Lac and Richard Turner at Turners in Birmingham.

Alex said: “It is an honour to be nominated amongst such exciting new talent within the UK restaurant scene. We are passionate about what we do at Alchemilla and we will continue to strive to make the best possible food and refine our craft.”
