FOOD & DRINK: FINALISTS ANNOUNCED IN THE COMPETITION TO FIND NOTTINGHAM’S BEST COCKTAIL

The finalists in the competition to find Nottingham’s Best Cocktail 2019, part of It’s in Nottingham Cocktail Week, have been announced.

Venues around the city centre were encouraged to create new cocktails based on three different themes: Collaboration with another Nottingham business; Cocktail inspired by a Nottingham personality and a twist on a classic. Businesses could enter one or all three of the categories.

The three finalists in each category are as follows: A twist on a classic:

·         Bar Iberico – Mule Kick
A twist on the classic Moscow Mule. Made with Bar Iberico’s own secret spiced ginger syrup recipe and Schweppes ginger beer, combined with grapefruit vodka.

·         Hart’s Hotel and Kitchen – Hart’s Garden Bramble Twist
This gin cocktail was inspired by the ingredients from the garden at Hart’s and has a refreshing and exciting twist.

·         Juni – Gin Fashioned
Using their own cask-aged premium artisanal gin, Juni have created a twist on the classic Old Fashioned.

2018 Finalists in action

Mixologists and bartenders from each venue will now mix, shake and stir up their creations before a panel of industry experts at a live final on Monday 18 November, when a winner in each category will be announced and Nottingham’s Best Cocktail for 2019 will be named.

All of these drinks as well as the others specially created for the event are on the menu for people to enjoy during Nottingham Cocktail Week which takes place from Monday 11 November to Sunday 17 November 2019.

Over 40 pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and casinos are taking part in the event which is set to be a major celebration of the city’s vibrant cocktail scene. Among them are All Bar One, Alto, Browns, Ginsecco, Grosvenor Casino, Mowgli, Nottingham Bowl, Pitcher and Piano, Slug and Lettuce (Old Market Square), The Cross Keys, The Lacehouse, Turtle Bay and Wildwood.

During the weeklong event there will also be various activities including mixology master classes and live music and various venues will be providing 2 for 1 offers on cocktails.
