Food: City enjoying a Taste of Nottingham

The It’s in Nottingham’s Taste of Nottingham, week-long food and drink extravaganza organised by the Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID), is now well under way.

The week got of to a flying start with a Craft Beer and Sausage tasting event on Monday at Oaks Restaurant and Baron Bromley Place.

Those attending were able to try five different sausages that had been handmade on site using locally sourced ingredients, along with a selection of craft ales that have been carefully paired with the sausages.

The city-wide culinary celebration is showcasing the cities vast array of great food and drink venues and aims to encourage visitors to make Nottingham their destination of choice when it comes to experiencing new flavours and surroundings or simply enjoying old favourites.

Other events taking place during the week are a Burrito Making Masterclass on Thursday 24 September at Barburrito, King Street at 7pm (£10 per person); MacMillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 25 September from 8.00am to 11.00am at Genting Casino in the Cornerhouse and a Sushi Masterclass on Saturday 26 September at 2pm at Chino Latino, Maid Marian Way (£20 per person).

During this special week, people will also be encouraged to enjoy an excellent Dine for £10 menu deal offered by some of Nottingham’s favourite city centre restaurants, cafes and bars.  These include Oaks, World Service, Three Crowns, Carluccio’s, Cape, Red Hot World Buffet and Rum House.

All the details of the events and the venues taking part together with exclusive offers, features and recipes showcasing Nottingham’s superb food and drink offering, have been brought together in a specially created Taste of Nottingham guide available in the city centre at the businesses involved, hotels and shopping centres.

 

A Taste of Nottingham comes to a mouth-watering climax at the Great Notts Show in Old Market Square which takes place from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 September.  There will be a special Taste of Nottingham Market as part of the show where a number of members of the BID in the food and drink sector are taking stalls.  Those taking part include Carluccio’s, Cookie Shake, Homemade, Nandos, Treat Kitchen, Rub Smokehouse, Weavers and Debenhams.

“A Taste of Nottingham is a great opportunity for people to enjoy the wide variety of exciting restaurants and bars in the city,” said Tom Waldron Lynch, vice-chairman of the Nottingham BID. “The number of new openings this year confirms just how vibrant our food and drink scene is.”
