Food: Alchemilla launches kitchen and bar experiences

The Alchemilla kitchen team md

Nottingham restaurant Alchemilla, has unveiled two brand new gift experiences just in time for Christmas, which are perfect presents for the budding master chef or mixologist. You can pull on your whites and try your hand in the kitchen of Alchemilla during a live lunch service, or learn the steps to making a perfect cocktail with a masterclass from master mixologist, Alchemilla’s bar manager Grace Bond.

The Alchemilla kitchen experience allows a budding foodie to spend the morning in the Alchemilla kitchen. There they will acquire new skills and techniques from Alex and his talented kitchen team. They can learn how recipes come together and how ingredients are selected to create a balanced combination of flavours. They will find out about the restaurant philosophy of making vegetables the star of the dish and how the kitchen team uses locally grown and reared produce, as well as foraged ingredients, to create the dishes at Alchemilla. Next, they will learn about the different stations, whilst prepping food for the lunch service. As service begins, the budding chefs will also get the opportunity to assemble finished dishes at the pass, ready for real diners. But don’t worry the next step doesn’t involve pot washing! They will then be able to sit down for the seven-course tasting menu with a friend or partner. As a memento of the visit, they will receive a special gift to take away. The kitchen experience costs £250.

If you fancy trying your hand at becoming a mixologist for the afternoon, then you can join Grace Alchemilla’s resident bartender, for a cocktail masterclass. This experience is perfect for a group and could even be tagged onto a lunch to make the occasion really special. At the masterclass you will be guided through an extensive tasting of the spirits and explore what makes up a liquor. Take a trip through Grace’s bar to see and try some of the foraged ingredients that are used to create craft cocktails and learn how to make a selection of Alchemilla’s house cocktails. Learn top level bar tending techniques to impress and learn how to recreate them at home. Every guest will also receive a tote bag to take home containing a selection of bar accessories to practice their new skills. The bar experience can be tailored to suit the size of group, but prices start from £100 per person.
