The snowdops at Hodsock Priory in Nottinghamshire offer a magical spectacle for all those visiting, and now those travelling to the historic venue can combine this unforgettable experience with a stay at the nearby Ye Olde Bell Hotel.

Every February the Priory’s 12 acre Horse Acre Wood is carpeted with beautiful snowdrops. Guests travel along the signposted walk through the spectacular scene of approximately four million of these short lived seasonal flowers.

There is also the added attraction of the winter flowering plants and shrubs with glorious colours and fragrance in the Priory’s formal gardens.

Resident since 1967, Sir Andrew and Lady Buchanan have tirelessly nurtured Hodsock – one of England’s best loved winter gardens – for over 50 years. Now in their 80s, they’re opening the grounds surrounding their ancestral home, but winding back the clock with ticket prices from the 1990s and warming refreshments by the campfire.

For those after a truly relaxing experience, beautiful country hotel, Ye Olde Bell, a short drive from Hodsock Priory, is offering a special rate of £99 B&B for a double room based on 2 sharing for any guests visiting the snowdrops at Hodsock.

The hotel in the village of Barnby Moor dates back to the 17th century and combines period character with modern elegance.  Guests can unwind in one of the 59 beautiful bedrooms, suites or lodges, dine in the elegant Restaurant Bar 1650 or relaxed St Leger Bistro-by-the-Bar and there’s also the option to book into their luxurious spa for a wide range of pampering treats.

The snowdrop and winter gardens with woodland walk will be open from Saturday 9th to Sunday 17th February 2019.  The Estate will open daily for the short season with the family offering a simple, pared-back experience – just birdsong, peace and quiet, with a gentle walk in the gardens and woods.

The special rate at the hotel will be available between the dates and can be redeemed by guests quoting Hodsock when booking and then presenting a valid ticket to the event upon check in.
