Back for another academic year, the popular ‘Start and Art Club’ held at The Harley Gallery on the Welbeck Estate near Worksop will return in September, with additional spaces added to cater for high demand.

Encouraging creativity in children as young as three, the 10-week workshop is split into two sessions, dependent on age. Start Club (3-5 years) will develop children’s observation, imagination and hand skills through simple hands-on art activities such as printing, textiles and sculpture, whilst Art Club (6-11 years) develops making skills and an understanding of art and craft with mark making activities, weaving and ceramics on offer. The sessions build knowledge week by week, providing the children with a portfolio of creative skills.

Starting from 10th September, the sessions run once a month on Saturdays (see notes to editors for full list of dates) from 10am-12noon (Art Club) and 2pm-3:30pm (Start Club) through to June 2017 and are priced at £2.50 per child per session (Start Club) and £5 per child per session (Art Club). With limited places available, sessions must be pre-booked by calling 01909 501700.

Led by the Harley’s Education and Engagement Manager, Dayle Green said: “It’s important to make learning fun; we’ll be encouraging children to look, draw and discover through fun and messy hands-on activities. These sessions have been a recurring event for five years and each year they sell-out so we’ve added a few more spaces to cater for high demand.”

Booking for ‘Start & Art Club’ opens in June, with places expected to quickly fill up. Visit the website for more information: www.harleygallery.co.uk.
