The Harley Gallery’s popular art and craft sessions, ‘Hands on Holidays’, designed to inspire creativity in children, are on hand to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays.

Taking place on Wednesdays throughout the school holidays, on the Welbeck estate near Worksop, children will learn basic hand skills and how to look more closely, through experimenting with colours, textures, cutting, constructing and drawing.

  • Wednesday 27th July – Colour Crazy Spinners; Make and design a colourful spinner, just like magic watch the colours blend into one.

  • Wednesday 3rd August – Matchbox houses; Create a house for a miniature person or creature of your choice.

  • Wednesday 10th August – Paint a Pebble Creature; Turn a pebble found on the beach into an amazing creature.

  • Wednesday 17th August – Make a Cactus; Make and design your own crazy cactus.

  • Wednesday 24th August – DIY jewellery; Make your own accessories to show off over the summer.

  • Wednesday 31st August – Make a Model Camera; Make your own model camera to explore with.

The workshops run from 11am-midday and midday-1pm and are priced at £2.50 per child. With limited places available, sessions must be pre-booked and children accompanied by an adult at all times. Call 01909 501700 to book.

Led by the Harley’s Education and Engagement Manager, Dayle Green said: “Finding activities to keep the kids busy throughout the summer holidays can always be so difficult. Our one hour workshops are always very popular, encouraging creativity in children as young as four. What’s more, they get to take home their work at the end of the session.”
