Stylish hotel, Ye Olde Bell, has announced the opening of a new multi-million pound luxury contemporary spa for spring 2017.

Located in the rural village of Barnby Moor on the corners of the three counties of Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, but with easy access just off the A1 and a direct train service to London, the 17,000sq ft spa will feature a bespoke restaurant and bar with theatre style kitchen headed up by Chef Richard Allen.

Chef Allen joined Ye Olde Bell Hotel in 2014, where he worked as Head Chef for Restaurant Bar 1650, achieving an AA Rosette, which it still holds today.

Away from the kitchen Allen has a huge passion for health and fitness, which saw him take time away from his culinary career to qualify as a personal trainer, with expert knowledge in nutrition. When he heard of the spa opening he immediately saw an opportunity to combine his two loves and oversee this new venture and put his stamp on the menu.

The Theatre Kitchen will feature sumptuous fresh local produce from local suppliers. In addition to healthy food options such as super-food salads and Asian inspired broths he will also include richer, more indulgent dishes.

The open nature of the kitchen will offer a personalised experience for guests, allowing them to see the chefs at work and interact with Allen directly, who will always be keen to chat with the guests, discuss any ideas or queries they may have and impart his culinary and health knowledge.

Richard said: “I am really excited to be part of this new project, it ignites my passion for healthy living and food. I’m already designing the menu and eventually I would like to see an integration between the cuisine and the treatments.

“I am keen to interact with the spa guests and I am able to do this with the open plan nature of the kitchen. I will be able to advise on all the dishes and healthy eating in general. I’m also aware however that spas are also about luxury and indulgence so will ensure the menu offers this balance.”

In addition to the Theatre Kitchen Ye Olde Bell spa will offer ten hot and cold experiences including a custom-made ‘snowstorm’ experience, the only one of its kind in the UK, Sabbia Med Sunlight therapy, steambath, salt cascade room, mud Rasul, Swiss pine sauna, mineralising stonebath, herbal laconium, shower walk and indoor-to-outdoor hydropool.

There will be an open fire, numerous relaxation areas and outside will feature a garden and relaxation areas.

The spa itself has been designed in conjunction with Spa Vision by Spa Directors, Sadie Ardron-Levack and Lizzie Bath.  The interior design has been led by Hilary Levack and designer Tonia Wynne of Homestead Interiors, both of whom did the full design refurbishment of the hotel.

Sadie said: “We are creating one of the leading spas within the UK. We have worked closely with our partners to create a luxurious space and environment that not only serves to relax and indulge but also invigorates those focussing on wellbeing. I believe the cuisine is key to the experience and I am thrilled to have Richard on board to deliver this.”

Lizzie Bath commented: “I am thrilled to be leading the beauty team within Spa at Ye Olde Bell. Along with my highly trained team of therapists, and six state-of-the-art treatment rooms, we are equipped and excited to bring contemporary treatments offering an extensive range of beauty, make-up, massage and sports recovery massage to our clients. Combining our expertise with luxury product house, Germaine de Cappucini, our goal is to bring relaxation and a sense of well-being to all”.

The spa will sit adjacent to the AA Four-Star Rosette hotel and will complement the style of the property. Dating back to the 17th Century the hotel has been passionately restored by its private owners. It features 59 individually styled plush rooms, stunning suites and luxury lodges all of which feature contemporary design whilst retaining their original character
